Boot Camp
Apple revealed "Boot Camp" yesterday which will allow Apple computers to run Windows through partitioned drives. It's a pretty awesome revelation and ABC's got an interesting article on it today. Their take is that it will convert more Windows users to Mac users. Although I think the Mac software and operating system to be a thousand times better than Windows, I don't see this move happening in a huge way, that is millions of Windows users "seeing the light." Instead, I see families with diverse tastes, interests, and jobs being able to use one computer for dual purposes, which is potentially, I think, the greatest thing to come out of "Boot Camp." Millions of people have PCs at home because that's what they have to use at work, they're cheaper, and they have other software preferences that the Mac doesn't offer. But now that a family can use one computer to run Photoshop and GarageBand in Mac OS and then sync their work palm pilot with their calendar in Windows... it's a whole new ball game. Will Apple be a little less hip as it becomes available to more users? I seriously doubt it.
