TOLERANCE

No, not for George Bush. I can't tolerate him. At all.

But I can tolerate an end to racism. Read this heartwarming story from the LA Times today and visit the Tolerance Center if you're ever in L.A. It's extremely moving.

NO HE DINN...

Our new flack, er, press secretary Tony Snow bit his words today when he tried to describe Bush's trotting out of the gay marriage card as a civil rights issue. Well, yes, Mr. Snow, it is a civil rights issue, but your administration is on the opposite side of those rights. With that one slip, Tony Snow was boxed into a corner. Go to the link to read a partial transcript of the exchange.

RIGGED

Still don't believe Kerry really won the presidential election in 2004? Stop what you're doing right now and read these two articles...

Was the 2004 Election Stolen? by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (in this month's Rolling Stone)

How They Stole Ohio by Greg Palast (via Buzzflash.com)

Apple + Nike

Could I be more smitten with Apple? I'm not a big fan of the nano, really or Nike's line of running shoes either, but this is a step in the right direction (pun intended). If, through your headphones, you could constantly be alerted to what mile you're on, that's cool enough as it is. I'm sold. Ideally, the technology gets better and smaller, so that something the size of the nano holds as much as the 30GB does now, that you can completely customize your workout, even analyzing songs that will work for the pace you're trying to achieve. I could geek out at length about Apple computers and running, but I'll stop right here.

Lost Malick classic?

There were rumors about six years ago that Terence Malick was going to direct an adaptation of Walker Percy's The Moviegoer. Even Sean Penn was purportedly attached. Since it's clearly not being made anytime soon, all I can do is mourn a lost classic. I just finished re-reading The Moviegoer on Friday night, forgot how amazing the writing in that book is. I also just Netflixed New World because I never caught it in the theater and even though I'm ready to cringe at Colin Farrell as John Smith, I'm sure the movie is beautiful.

I've moved on to The Puzzlemaker's Handbook even though I've moved on from writing crossword puzzles as a career option. Regardless, I requested this from the New York Public Library two months ago and since I've waited this long, I might as well give it its fair shake. Right?

24 finale tonight. Sarah's coming over. I'm sort of happy to see this season put to rest (so much better to watch this crap on DVD!).

Republicans are full of shit

Unfortunately, so are a lot of Democrats.

Can we please get rid of the entire Bush administration, and every member of congress and the judiciary and just start from scratch? Like a democracy reboot?

Just wondering.
