The advocate can function as a paralegal and a paramedical, and help navigate the bureaucracy.

If someone is ill, (physically or mentally) they can apply for "benefits".

If some one is functional, they can find help seeking a job.

If someone is employed, they can apply for student aid, and atttend college or a trade school.

If someone is functional, employed, and educated, they can write down their short term and long term goals, and discuss them with someone in similar circumstances.

The advocate can help them achieve any of these goals.
