As a junior, I rode at Camelot Riding Club with Raizy Goffman and Mike & Leslie Hebert. They gave me great fundamentals that have allowed me to dive right in to eventing as an adult.
Me TooMe Too was my first horse - a been-there-done-that guy who'd won lots of championships in his younger days. We were both 14 when we met, and he took great care of me, giving me lots of confidence and experience.
Showing at Camelot.
Junior Hunters at Huntington Beach.
Junior Hunters at LAEC (my first "A" show!).
Winners of the LAHSA Horsemanship Medal at Rainbow Canyon.
Hanging out between classes at Thumbs Up Riding Club.
Warming up for the 1985 SFVHSA Junior Medal Final. Me Too was laid up with an injury, and Jeannine Palmieri generously loaned me her nice mare Sunday Driver for the finals. I had only jumped her twice before the finals! It was my very first medal final and I was incredibly nervous. Mostly I just sat there and sort of steered. She took great care of me, and we ended up placing second!
Showing Connecticut Yankee in Children's Hunters at LAEC in February 1986, splattering about in the mud. Event people keep telling me that hunter people don't ride in the rain, so I dug out this picture to prove it!
