Conference Book Trade Information
A Message to CR! 1999 Attendees from Carol C., CR! 1999 Book Trade Coordinator:
Would you like to have some fun and play book trade at our Celebrate Romance 1999! Conference? Here's a way to pick up some new-to-you, untried authors/books! You will get a book to take home for each book you bring to the trade tables.
At the conference book trade event, there will be three categories for trading:
1. SINGLE TITLES - Newer releases (published 1995 or later), hard-to-find titles (any published date), and Keepers or Almost Keepers (any published date). *NOTE: All books for this category should be GOOD to VERY GOOD condition (minor wear and tear).
2. CATEGORIES AND/OR REGENCIES** - Newer releases (published 1995 or later), Hard-to-Find titles (any published date), and Keepers or Almost Keepers (any published date). *NOTE: All books for this category should be GOOD to VERY GOOD condition (minor wear and tear).
**Categories are defined as the sequentially numbered, generally shorter paperbacks published under certain "lines" (e.g. Silhouette Desire, Harlequin Romance). Regencies are defined as the shorter regency novels published under certain "lines" (e.g. Signet, Zebra, Fawcett).
3. SPECIAL REQUESTS - ANY published date. Books traded under this category must be requested on the Book Trade Request List prior to the conference and matched with a find by Carol C., the Book Trade Coordinator. Books found will be held for the requestor for pickup at the conference. See below for more information. *NOTE: All books found for this category should be in GOOD condition unless prior acceptance by the requestor.
In order to make the trade as fun and fair as possible, please observe the following guidelines:
A. You will receive a color coded ticket for each book you turn in at the trade table. You may exchange this ticket for a book of the same type that you brought to the trade (e.g. Single Title, Category, Regency). For example, if you bring a single title book, you may receive a single title book in the trade.
B. All book trade participants are invited to subscribe to the the CR! 1999 Book Trade Mailing List (cr99booktrade@onelist.com) and to post their wants, such as those special hard-to-finds (hey, you might get lucky!) or backlist gloms. Carol C. will be monitoring the mailing list daily hoping to find matches for you! Please use the mailing list for posting your requests rather than emailing individually to keep the trade fun and fair for everyone. Details for subscribing to the mailing list are given at the end of this page.
Please format your requests in the following manner:
SUBJECT line: REQUEST
Carol Carter <angelca@alltel.net>
Anderson, Catherine - COMANCHE MAGIC - Single Title
For Categories, please include the category name and number:
SUBJECT line: REQUEST
Carol Carter <angelca@alltel.net>
Hooper, Kay - IN SERENA'S WEB (LS 231) - Category
If you find a requested book, send an email message as soon as possible to cr99booktrade@onelist.com. Type FOUND in the subject line, and be sure to include in the message body the requestor's name, the title of the book, and the author of the book.
Please post FOUND messages promptly so the coordinator can make the match and the other finders will stop searching for the book. The coordinator will notify the requestor when a match has been made. The first finder will complete the match unless the book is in less than GOOD condition, in which case the requestor will be notified and may decide whether to accept or decline the book. Once the requestor has decided to accept a book, the trade is considered completed.
NOTE: First request in is the first in line to be matched with a find of that title. The book trade coordinator will keep track of all requests and match requests with finds. The coordinator will post updated request lists to the cr99booktrade@onelist.com mailing list.
If you make a request and your book is found (there is a match), you must bring a book to trade of the same category in order to receive your requested book. For example, if you request a Single Title book (and that book is found for you), you must bring a Single Title book to the trade. You may either find a book on the request list for someone else or bring a book for the general trade.
D. Books brought for trade are not limited to requests or matches on the Request List - but should be keepers or near keepers and in good condition. To keep the trade manageable, we request you limit your offerings to between 5 and 15 books. That means 5 to 15 new titles you will take home.
The coordinator (Carol C.) will post a regularly updated Request List on the CR! 99 Book Trade Mailing List. List membership is open to all on the CR99! Newsletter distribution list. Email your requests to the Book Trade Mailing List, and check your email regularly for updates. Subscribing to the Book Trade Mailing List is easy. Just point your browser to:
http://www.onelist.com/subscribe.cgi/cr99booktrade
and follow the directions posted there. Subscribe now, and send in your want lists! We'll need your requests to get this started, and your book collections and shopping skills to keep it going!
Finally, if you have any questions regarding the book trade, email me at angelca@alltel.net. Let's have a great time trading and finding books!
-Carol C. in GA hoping we have a lot of fun trading books and fill a lot of requests/wants!
