The Golden Gate Bridge
at night as fog rolls in. This
was a time exposure using Kodak color negative print film. The
view is from the Marin side looking towards the Lime Point light
house. I took the exposure by using a spot meter and taking a
reading of the light house building at the center (white spot
in lower center). This is a white lighthouse at the base of the
bridge. I noted that reading and then multiplied the time by 5
to get the time needed for an adequate amount of density on the
negative to give as much color as possible in the print.
Arrive at the bridge
before sunset to find the best site for a shot. Explore around
to pick the view or views you like. Then as the sun sets you will
see the bridge in different and often more dramatic lighting than
at hi noon. If you're lucky the fog will drift in adding even
more to the photo.
