Hand colored photo of north tower of the Golden Gate Bridge. This photo was taken from one of the gun emplacements on the Marin side of the bridge. There is a foot path near the parking area for Battery Alexander which ultimately leads to a beach. One of the side paths of this road leads to a bluff that gives this view of the bridge. To the left of center is Coit Tower and the Oakland bay bridge and to the extreme right is the Transamerica building. Although I used color negative film for this shot, I hand colored some of the buildings in the background on the print.
Hand coloring Photos. I used Marshall's photo Painting Pencils (available at a speciality photo store). If the photo does not have a mate surface, you will need to spray the photo if it is a glossy with Marshall's Pre-Color Spray. This treatment will provide a "tooth" or rougher surface for the colors to adhere to the print surface. But then you could use Photoshop to doctor the photo. Printing the photo would be another project too.
