WANT
TO UNDERSTAND YOUR DOG?--DOGS, WOLVES AND COYOTES BEHAVIOR.
Study wolf and coyote behavior
to know something about the life of your dog. Dogs are descended
from wolves. A report in Science
(volume 276, no. 5319, p 1687-1689, 1997) gives evidence
that dogs were descended from wolves more than 100,000 years ago
rather than 14,000 years ago as previously thought. Can you see
the wolf in your dog? When dogs eat, they wolf it down. When dogs
see a squirrel, they see prey. When dogs see a green lawn, they
see land that they can claim as their own by marking with their
urine. This is their odor fingerprint that all other dogs will
want to sniff. Trained narcotic dogs can detect odors at 5-25
PPB (parts per billion).
