Budget Update: the year end balance on the account actually broke the $200.00 mark. Dues are paid for racing.
We still fall short on cash for the equipment upgrades, but screw it, life is too short to wait for the ideal time to come
out and compete. A bowsprit, asym and new rudders are on the way, we'll find some way to pay for it. Josh, Steve
and I have agreed to do the "full-monty" if necessary... Now that's dedication. Rudy only wishes he had the team
spirit we have.
The NCESA has approved the bowsprit for testing and the new rudder design for racing. The Spirit of '76 Yacht Racing account
has only $152.47. It is unlikely we will be able to pay for repairs let alone a retrofit. Heck, we're still working off
last summer's bar tab... More on this after the first 2004 Official Crew Meeting.

JP Mull, a career ending injury or a heroic comeback?
NEWSFLASH!
The latest on JP Mull...
JP Mull is now the father of two, Frankie and Emmett. His leg is still on the mend. Mull plans on racing at
the Midwinters in Lake Eustis, Florida. Mull has been practicing Kung Fu to help mend his injured leg. Unfortunately,
he recently disgraced his Master. This is considered the ultimate faux pas in the martial arts world. As a result,
a cell of ninjas has been dispatched from China to "punish" JP for his disrespect. Mull expects to face the assassins sometime
in March. Surely, if he survives he will sail this summer on Delavan. If not, the Mayor and Patone
will race his boat.
JP Mull, skipper of D-29 recently fractured his leg. The injury required surgery. Mull expects to have his cast gone
by March, but will he be able to sail? Only time and countless hours of gruelling physical therapy will tell. Mull had a strong
showing early in the 2003 C-Scow Championship series posting back to back victories from the start. After lagging later in
the year Mull upgraded his program with a new boat, but continued to fall back in the standings. Friends noted that the psychological
impact of the impending breakup of his band, Karmageddon, could account for the weak showing. Is this just another hurdle
in this world-class yachtsman's spotted career or the end of an era? Story developing...
