THE FIRST DIVINE SCIENCE CHURCH

City Church exterior
First Divine Science Church of St. Louis
This church is located in the Grand South Grand area near Tower Grove Park in the city of St. Louis proper. It is the oldest Divine Science Church in the world, and is affectionately referred to by the other Metro Divine Science Churches as "City Church." We are in the midst of one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Saint Louis. People of many different racial, religious, cultural and sexual orientations have created a global village of sorts.
Since Divine Science acknowledges that all people carry within them the Presence of God (God being Omnipresent -- everywhere present), we are planted in an ideal location to impact the advancement of respect and appreciation for the diversity of God's Children, whom we believe to be every human being on the planet.

WE ARE ALL ONE IN GOD

Also known as the "Church of Practical Christianity," we are, therefore, a kind of pilot project for the future of a world where people are acknowledged, empowered, and appreciated for being their authentic spiritual selves.

DIVINE SCIENCE STATEMENT OF BEING

God is all, both invisible and visible.
One Presence, One Mind, One Power is all.
This One that is all is perfect life, perfect love,
and perfect substance.
I AM an individualized expression of God
And ever one with this perfect life, perfect love,
and perfect substance.

CHRIST JESUS, THE WAYSHOWER

We follow the inspiration of the Christ, which lives within all of us. We affirm the Lord's Prayer in the present tense - in this moment now, rather than in the ever-elusive future. Now is all there is. Jesus delivered this prayer in Aramaic, His native tongue. In that language, there was no past or future tense, only the eternal NOW.

THE AFFIRMATIVE LORD'S PRAYER

Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed is thy name.
Thy kingdom is come; thy will is done on earth as it is in heaven.
Thou givest us this day our daily bread;
Thou forgivest us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
Thou leadest us not into temptation, but dost deliver us from error.
For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen
