My Intertype (1924)

My Intertype was made in 1924 on a "Star" base, long before the Intertype Company adopted its trademark square "Universal" style base. It is a basic 90-channel linecaster which holds three magazines at a time.
On this fascinating machine I can cast lines of type up to 30-picas (5 inches) wide in 5.5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 24 point sizes.
Matrices for popular faces including Garamond, Palatino, Futura (Spartan), Century, Cheltenham, Optima, Melior, Helvetica, Cairo (Memphis/Stymie), Franklin Gothic, Poster Bodoni, Trade Gothic Condensed, Vogue, Egmont, Copperplate, Souvenir, Kenntonian, Alternate Gothic, Erbar, and John Hancock are available in a wide variety of styles and sizes. These faces can be used in just about any type of printed piece.
Traditional letterpress cards and invitations are my specialty so I also stock many unique and decorative faces, especially suited for this type of work. Some of these faces include DeVinne Outline, Narciss, Engravers Text, Hobo, Lotus (Liberty), Minuet, Parisian, Lydian, Nova Script, Korinna, Rivoli, Typo Roman Shaded, Palisade, Greeting Monotone, and Adonis. Many of these linecasting matrices are considered very rare today.
Larger sizes up tp 72 point are set by hand using foundry type. Included in this collection are various styles and sizes of Americana, Baskerville, Bernhard Gothic, Bernhard Modern Roman, Bodoni, Copperplate, Craw Clarendon, Engravers Old English, Franklin Gothic, Garamond, Hearst, Hobo, Huxley Vertical, John Hancock, Louvaine, Lydian, Park Avenue, Parsons, Spartan (Futura), and Stymie.
