Izumi dumps the Elrics on an uninhabited island, so they can think about what they've done. They have no fears about
this, as they can now take care of themselves, but we get a huge amount of flashbacks pertaining to their initial "training"
on the island. They had to solve what Izumi meant by "one is all, all is one," (Izumi probably likes the Lion King
movie...) and are given only a knife and one month to figure it out.
Young Ed and Al are terrorized on the island nightly by a masked man who constantly attempts to kill them. They get the
crap kicked out of them nightly. They catch a rabbit, but don't have the guts to kill it in order to eat it. One night, Ed
finally stands up to the masked man, threatening him with the knife. The masked man backs off. The Elrics kill and eat animals.
It's the circle of life. Yay.
In the present time, Ed and Al roam the island. At some point, they discover there is someone else on the island, through
a handprint left by their fire, a handprint that Al mistakes as Ed's. As they search for the mystery person, Al sees Ed off
in the distance, calling out to him, but after a moment of losing sight of Ed, Ed drops down from a tree branch directly above
Al. The mystery person finally reveals himself at the end of the episode.
In this episode we learn:
-Ed and Al act like they are all cool and mature. Psh! Okay.
-Izumi does care for the Elrics, despite her very tough love
-bunnies use their sad, sad eyes as defense against being eaten
-Al is very observant, and you can be too, if you pay close attention to what he says...
