Episode 10:
On the way back to Eastern Headquarters, Ed laments to Al about the sarcastic remarks he is sure to hear from Roy about
the lack of success in finding the Philosopher's Stone in Cornello's town. He decides to stop in a city on the way, just to
see if he can find some redeeming tidbit of information. While walking through the beautiful city, Ed gets splashed with mud
from head to toe by a passing car. Ed uses Alchemy to remove the mud, and is immediately arrested by a Zenigata-like officer.
This city has been suffering from a number of high-profile thefts by an alchemist. Ed is released after questioning, but contracts
food poisoning from the meal he ate at the police headquarters. He is taken to a hospital, where he must receive a shot. Ed
panics! Mr. Kickass-alchemist is afraid of getting shots... We are introduced to a kind nurse, which Al falls for. He says
her kindness reminds him their mother.
Ed is recruited by the police to help catch the thief-alchemist. He fails in his first attempt, but sees that the thief
has an alchemical array tattooed onto her chest (yes, around there! stop drooling). He later sees the pretty nurse from earlier
with her shirt partially undone, and sees the same array on her. It seems she cannot perform alchemy unless the array is displayed...
No comment. He falters on turning her in right then and there due to Al's pleas not to. Al had just learned that the hospital
is about to be demolished and thinks that she is stealing these items to raise money to save the hospital.
Ed helps the thief escape on the next attempt, making her owe him a favor. He asks for any infromation she knows regrading
the Philosopher's Stone, but she says she knows nothing, and runs away. The brothers find that the next day,
the hospital is demolished. The thief now has become a nun, in order to mend her evil ways. Ed is in doubt, but Al defends
her, thinking she is joining the church so that she may save it from demolition by stealing items for money.
Despite all the mischeviousness going on, the city folk are absolutely happy they have this thief running around. It
turns out their city is sinking into the sea, making many residents desert the city, but the fame she brings to their
town also brings tourists and reporters, and their money to the dying place. Ed is pissed off at being made a fool, and successfully
captures the thief, much to Al's dismay. Ed is not worried about her though, for she is sure to escape the Lupin-esque police
farce, I mean "force." Before she is hauled away, she gives Ed a rumor she heard where the Elrics can find a place in which
someone is attempting to make a Philosopher's Stone.
In this episode we learn:
-Al is gullible, really gullible... I mean "trusting"
-as brave as Ed is, he has his weakness, and its not women
-the more cops chasing after one person, the less successful they will be
-men need to get their minds off of women's chests
Note: Ed eats with chopsticks using his left hand, not his right.
