In 1994 Rabbi Gershon Steinberg-Caudill experienced a night dream that changed his view of homosexuality and
how God sees all sexual energy. This is Rabbi Gershon's story:
I had been invited as a guest speaker at a retreat for
a metaphysical Church group that had a rather large homosexual population.
I always had accepted the teachings of my early Bible
and Hebrew teachers that homosexuality was a perversion, a toeyvah hee (תועבה הוא), as
true and factual.
The night prior to my lecture, I had a rather interesting
dream and I am not normally a "dreamer of dreams."
In my dream I saw the Hebrew letters of the Sacred
Yod, Heh, Vav, Heh (י-ה-ו-ה) Name of God standing
in an up-down position with the Yod (י)on
top, forming a head, the Heh (ה) next, forming shoulders and arms, the Vav (ו) in the cavity of the upper Heh
and on through the last Heh (ה).
The Vav formed a backbone or kundalini, as it was tied
with a thread of fire to the upper Yod. The lower Heh was across the lower third of the Vav and formed a pelvis and legs.

All the letters were made of White fire on Black fire.
I could see in the background a Sephirot Tree of Life symbol against which the Sacred Name of God was displayed.
The Yod, which corresponded with the Sephirah of Keter
(כֶּתֶר),
had the vowel Kametz in it. The Upper Heh extended from the Sephirah of Binah (בִּינָה), across through Chochmah (חָכְמָה), and down to Chesed (חֶסֶד). The short leg
of the Heh was in Sephirah Gevurah (גְבוּרָה).
The vowel Tzeyrey was in the Sephirah of Binah, with the vowel Patach in Sephirah Chochmah, and vowel Segol in Sephirah Chesed.
In Sephirah Gevurah was the vowel Shva.
The Vav was centered over the Sephirah Tiferet (תִּפְאֶרֶת)and
had the vowel Cholam in it. The Lower Heh began in Sephirah Hod (הוֹד), with the vowel Kibbutz in it at that point. It curved
through Sephirah Netzach (נֵצָח),
with vowel Chirek in the curve of the top bar.
Out of the very bottom of the Vav proceeded a thread
of light that went through Sephirah Yesod (יְסוֹד),
with vowel Shooreek, and into Sephirah Malchut-Shekhinah
(מַלְכוּת
שכינה) which had written across it the Name ADONAY (אדוני).
In the dream, a Rainbow surrounded the upper half of
the Sacred Name Shiviti or mandala (which is what this whole picture is called.)
I was given to understand by my Dream Moderator that
the Rainbow represents all forms of Unification; the Oneness of God, the oneness of religions, the oneness of humanity, the
oneness of races, the oneness of the universe.
A Voice came from the center of the Shiviti and told
me that every human being is made with both masculine and feminine aspects.
The two outer columns of the Shiviti represented the
aspects of masculine energy and feminine energy, positive and negative, giving and receiving, etc.
The Divine energy would begin in the earth-based place
of Malchut and would shoot up like lightening through the genital place of Yesod, up to Netzach, across to Hod, through Tiferet
to Chesed, across to Gevurah, up across to Chochmah, picking up heightened energy as it passes through the battery charger
Hidden Sephirah of Daat, then across to Binah and up to Keter, where it connects with the Unity of All Unities, the Endless
All, the Ein Sof.
As soon as the Divine connection is made, the reverse
trip is made from Keter to Chochmah to Binah through Daat to Chesed to Gevurah to Tiferet to Netzach to Hod to Yesod to Malchut.
Each of these Sephirot represent an attribute of the human psyche, which in turn is also a divine attribute.
The Voice Guide taught me that we are each of us made
in the Divine Image of the Creator Force in this manner, both male and female.
As our inner energy charge goes up and down the Ladder
it rests momentarily in each Sephirah, sometimes for a nanosecond longer in the masculine places than in the feminine places.
When it does that, we are naturally more masculine than feminine, no matter what our body's sexual plumbing.
This also happens in the feminine Sephirot, as well as
in the masculine Sephirot.
The center column is the column of Neutrality. It is
the booster column. If the energy rests longer in the center places, the individual may exhibit a tendency towards celibacy.
I do not claim that my dream was a Vision, nor that it
came from a Divine source, or that it has significance for anyone but to myself. However, the dream answered my questions
pertaining to homosexuality, which have since been born out by modern genetic evidence.
I woke up with a start, put on my pants and ran to the
Art Cabin where I painted the Shiviti of that dream on my pajama top.
The next day, I gave the lecture and many of the homosexuals
who came up to me afterwards, told me that I had captured the way they felt inside.
So, something about the dream is right! And, I feel good
about having overcome my homophobia from my previous life's teachings. I have never felt uncomfortable about homosexuality
again.
My many Gay and Lesbian friends and associates have taught
me many wonderful and enlightening ways of coming to an understanding of homosexuality as a orientation instilled into a person
by God and not some choice that one makes.
I am fully convinced that the Hebrew texts of Leviticus
18 & 20 are used wrongly, and purposely, in translations that teach hatred, by those who seek to use scriptures to harm
or to control others.
There is actually NOTHING against homosexuality within
the Hebrew Scriptures! Click on the link below.
