Una Pong

It’s rock, sort of, with freeform noise improvisation, spoken word segments, surrealist imagery, and visual elements. Anything from a guitar to a rock to a human breath may be a sound source. It’s puppetry of the mind, a gentle riot.

Una Pong was founded in 1998. Adam Budofsky and Elizabeth Walsh, who had already been performing together for several years, began experimenting with tape recorders, synthesizers, guitars and common household objects. Adam and Elizabeth created a body of work that evolved into "Dissolve," an exploration of the contradiction between the competing needs for intimacy and freedom. Damien Pratt joined in 1999, and brought the Una Pong sound to a whole new level. Two Una Pong albums have been released on Desert Poodle Records: “Dissolve,” (1999), and “i love you very much” (2001)

Una Pong's music is a combination of electro-acoustic sound sculptures, spoken word, improvisation, and more "traditional" song structures. They incorporate visual and dramatic elements into their performances. Una Pong has performed at art gallery openings, record fairs, concert halls and rock clubs.

Adam Budofsky is well known around New York and New Jersey as a percussion wizard, electronic composer, and sharp dresser. He has performed with the Barleycorns, C is for Coyote and Curtis Eller's American Circus (the last two with Elizabeth). Adam will soon release his first solo album on Desert Poodle Records.

Elizabeth Walsh has studied composition at Vassar College, King's College London, and Montclair State University. Her teachers include Annea Lockwood and Dean Drummond. Recent compositions include “Ten Bulls,” for contrabass quartet, and “Radium,” for zoomoozophone, kithara, diamond marimba and bass marimba. Elizabeth has been awarded the ASCAP-Raymond Hubbell Scholarship for Young Composers.

Damien Pratt hails from Connecticut and is well known for his solo work, but has graciously consented to lend his guitar and vocal talents to Una Pong. His albums include "From The Lenny Bruce Tapes, Vol. 2," and “Euthanasia,” which was released in the U.S. and Japan in March.

Una Pong's albums can be purchased at Tunes in Hoboken, NJ, and online at CD Baby.
