The following is a list of Chicago area Long Wave Non-Directional Beacons. The FAA operates these beacons in order to provide navigational help for aircraft. In the Chicago area there are 4 beacons serving O’Hare International Airport, while 2 beacons serve Midway Airport. I am also listing few beacons that were active in the past, but at present are silent. All the beacons send out a continuous signal consisting of their ID in Morse code.
