April Meeting

Our meeting on Thursday, April 14, 2005, was such an enjoyable learning experience!  There were 35 students, guests, and chapter members present.  We enjoyed a presentation, "Get Organized," by Ms. Kathy Thomas, representative for Avery Dennison products.    Ms. Thomas displayed several new items to help make today's administrative professional more effective and efficient at the office, and at home.  We enjoyed a wonderful PowerPoint presentation which gave tips and suggestions on how to use Avery products to accomplish specific office tasks that we face on a daily basis.

Ms. Thomas gave each attendee a packet of materials which contained an Avery Dennison Catalog, pens, markers, dividers, and other brochures and items.  She also demonstrated and then gave away several nice door prizes, including a labeler for CDs and a label printer.   All attendees enjoyed the presentation, and each attendee received one, and some two, door prizes supplied by Chapter members.

I want to thank each Chapter member for their support, attendance, contribution of door prizes, and for the delicious refreshments.  A big "Thank You" to Ms. Lori Kish, Chair of Programs, for arranging our monthly chapter programs!  Also, another big "Thank You" to Ms. Sheila Bradley for coordinating the refreshments, and to Ms. Pam West for coordinating the door prizes and information packets!

And, a big "thank you" to all chapter members and guests for attending the chapter meetings!  Without you we would not have a chapter.  I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting in May.

Month(s) in Review . . .

March 10, 2005, was a very refreshing meeting!  We enjoyed a presentation by Ms. Nina Cryan, a representative for Southern Living.  Ms. Cryan's discussed "Home and Office Decorating," and she displayed several decorative pieces at the meeting.  The program was very informative and Ms. Cryan presented several decorating ideas and tips.  She also distributed a Southern Living catalog to each attendee, and she gave away several door prizes.

Our meeting held on Thursday, February 10, 2005, began with an extremely informative presentation on "Womens' Annual Wellness Health Issues" by Dr. Elizabeth Shaw.  Since 1995, Dr. Shaw has been employed by Pinehurst Surgical in Pinehurst, and she is an OB-GYN Nurse Practitioner.  Known as "Dr. Elizabeth" to her patients, Dr. Shaw spoke to our group on the various health problems that can be detected by our annual wellness appointment, or our "annual checkup."  She discussed many of the health issues faced by women today, in all stages of life, issues ranging from cancer to hormone replacement therapy.

The meeting in January was very informative and featured a presentation from a Senior Account Representative with MacThrift Furniture.  All members enjoyed the presentation!

Our December meeting was a "social" gathering at The Thai Orchid restaurant in Aberdeen.  Several members gathered and exchanged Christmas gifts, enjoyed a great meal, and had wonderful fellowship!
