Chassis was originally campaigned by Al Bergler as "the Motown Shaker" nitro F/C. I purchased the chassis, with
23t altered body in 2000. After some major overhauling and repairs the car was fitted with a 6-71 blown 355 SBC. Gasoline
and carbs were originally used for some bracket racing. This netted a best ET of 9.17 @ 145mph. With the need for speed in
full force the winter of 2002 saw a full makeover of the chassis, complete with sandblasting and chassis powdercoating. Power
was then supplied by once again a 355 SBC. This time a BDS 8-71 blower, Enderele mechanical fuel injection on alcohol, set
up by Mark Hall in northern CA, was used for power. Mated to a powerglide tranny some shakedown runs were made in the end
of 2003. The learning curve now under way for the methanol we hope in 2004 to run some low 8 second ET's with the altered
body. The winter of 2003 saw the Funny Car bug hit real hard. I've been trying to locate either one of the bodies originally
run on the chassis, ('72 Vega OR '72 Mustang II), with no luck. With the help of Bob Rosetty and Don Beebe in the Philadelphia
PA area this '74 Camaro body was purchased. The Camaro was originally campaigned
by The Sweetman Brothers as a BB/FC in the late 70’s and early 80’s
2004 proved to be a success for the “Bits and Pieces” racing team. Finally making it to Englishown
for the Funny Car Reunion, being invited to our first booked in show at Maple Groves “Geezers at the Grove” event,
running our first 7 second time slip and meeting MANY new friends.
2005 saw a complete make over of the Camaro body. Stripping 14 coats of paint and primer, reconstructing and
repairing many parts of the body. And painting it GM “Hugger Orange”
With some headwork lighter weight and a season of tuning info, we hope to be in the 7.70-.780 range by the end of the year.
