The Bush School
2002-2003 Student/Faculty Senate

Minutes: 29 October 2002

Senators Present: 11, 12, PS, AD, ER, JM, LM, SD, SE, MJ, 10

October 22 Minutes ratified (7-2-1)

Minutes: The question of how minutes should be taken was addressed. The question of what is being served by the minutes was discussed.

Skating: Senator AD and JM reported on ice-skating. There was a question if the Senate should help fund the day. It was suggested that the Senators ask their classes what on-ice activities should occur.

Commons: There was a concern about the prices of commons items and the new method of purchase in the commons. It was pointed out that it is hard to know how much one is spending. Concerns included: People erasing prices on the whiteboard, no price tags or signs on food, no price display when check out, no notice of when a new fifty dollars is put onto a person’s lunchroom account, a meal being cheaper than parts of a meal and subjective pricing in regards to the size of a salad or meal. Suggestions included that price signs be conspicuously placed, meal sizes be standardized, and that the price of a meal is equal to the sum of its parts. The president will pass on these suggestions to the head of the commons staff.

Respectfully Submitted,
