The Bush School
2002-2003 Student/Faculty Senate

Minutes: 22 October 2002

Senators Present: 11, 12, PS, AD, ER, JM, LM, SD, TD, MJ, 9, 10.

Absent: SE. No proxy reported.

The 15 October minutes were ratified. (7-2-2)

Minutes: The question of what should be put in the minutes was discussed. It was pointed out that the secretary should not interpret the minutes and that subjective points of view should be omitted.

Alternates: It was pointed out that Senate is a burden for some. Problems included: Senate being at the end of the day, over scheduling by some and bad public opinion. It was asked why non-Senators did not attend Senate. It was pointed out that Senate is a time for discussion between faculty and students on an equal level about issues in the school.

Extra Space: There was a question of the use of basemont and the small rooms off of the math labs. It was pointed out that the small rooms are used to administer tests and there is the possibility of the webmaster occupying one of those rooms. The upper school director said that student can use the rooms but the locks must be changed to allow them to stay unlocked. It was decided that basemont couldn’t be a lounge because an employee of the school must supervise it.

Day before Thanksgiving: It was decided, following tradition that the school goes ice-skating the day before Thanksgiving. There will be a report next week.

Respectfully Submitted,
