MINUTES
18 September 2001
All members of the Senate were present and began by introducing themselves:

MV acted as chair pro tempore. The duties of the officers were explained and procedural questions were answered.
12 and IR were nominated for the office of chair. IR was elected.
TA and PS were nominated for the office of vice-chair. PS was elected.
10 and 12 were nominated for the office of secretary.
12 was elected.
The chair opened the floor to new business.
12: I move that: The Senate spend no more than ten minutes per topic per meeting, except by a two-thirds vote; The vice chair keep track
of the time; All pending questions be voted on at the end of the allotted time.
TA moved to amend the motion by striking out "ten" and inserting "fifteen."
The amendment passed (10-1). The amended motion failed (2-9).
The chair assigned the vice-chair the duty of informing the chair after fifteen minutes of discussion on a topic have elapsed.
12: I move that the minutes be published conspicuously in the upper school before noon the second day after each meeting, bearing the
signature of approval of all officers in attendance.
IR moved to amend the motion by striking out ", bearing the signature of approval of all officers in attendance." The amendment passed
(10-1). The amended motion failed (2-7).
12: I move that the agenda for each meeting be created by the officers and be published conspicuously in the upper school no less than
twenty-four hours before the meeting to which it refers.
The motion passed (9-2).
