Trimester /Semester:
JM introduced the subject of the pros and cons of a possible switch from a trimester system to a semester system.
The Upper School Director makes the decision. The essential question behind the potential switch asks which system better
embodies the school’s philosophy of “experience education. Discussion followed on the pros and cons of the potential switch
to a semester system. Pros included a larger depth of study, and able to use longer resources. Cons included less exposure
to different classes, more options to structure schedule with activities, foreign travel, and change in graduation
requirements.
Hillside:
There is concern about the erosion occurring by students walking up the graded hill “hillside” and creating erosion. It was
pointed out that much money was spent on machinery and that students should walk around the school or use a different path
leading to Wissner. Suggestions included posting a sign asking students not to walk up the hill and a report to classes.
Parking:
The question of what happens when a student repeatedly parks in a blatantly illegal parking spot. Discussion will continue
next week.
