Open Forum: The issue of how to run interactive open forums was raised. It was suggested that the Senate
have some ideas to suggest to the forum. It was felt that it was important to keep the floor open. Ideas included:
Semester/Trimester, Loss and Theft at the School, War in Iraq, upcoming elections, idea of Forum, AMP, Fundraising for
the new building, Fall Festival, Dances and the computer lab. It was recommended that we remind the Head of School when
Open Forums occurred.
Boy’s Shower: There was concern that there was no boys’ shower to be used. It was pointed out that girls’
showers are inadequate as well. Suggestions to fix the problem included purchasing a temporary shower or waiting for
showers in the new building. It was questioned if the school is responsible for making a shower and what message not having
showers sends to visiting athletic teams.
Semester/Trimester: Students want to be involved in the decision and it was suggested that the Senate
could be the intermediary. It was suggested to set up a schedule for students to attend faculty meetings, to introduce that
topic at class meetings, and to discuss the issue in advisory.
Student Judiciary Committee: It was suggested that there be a judicial branch open to students as well as
a legislative branch. It was pointed out that last year the committee to form a judicial branch fizzled and that at one
time there was an ineffective disciplinary committee. There was a question for the need for a judiciary committee, if
people wanted it. Ethical issues of punishing friends or other students were discussed. It was suggested that the deans
should get student input.
