11 was nominated for the office of secretary. 11 was elected.
The chair opened the floor to new business.
Scrambler:
10 requested use of the budget from scrambler, a somewhat underground school newspaper.
Questions ensued about the purpose of scrambler.
Discussion followed on the ethics of an underground school newspaper. It was pointed out that the school could not censor
the newspaper. Also, scrambler could co-exist with Rambler, the official school newspaper that is struggling to exist. It
was suggested that with a few dollars from each person on the rambler staff, the scrambler could exist without funds from
the senate and continue without many politics from the school.
(Motion) 9: I move that we do not support the financing of the scrambler.
(Second) PS
10 agreed with the senate and removed his request from senate discussion.
9 withdrew his motion.
PS seconded.
Campaigns:
The policy of holding at large senator election on the first day of school was discussed.
Reasons for change included: freshmen not knowing upper classmen and not enough time to campaign. Suggestions included:
skipping the first senate meeting of the year to allow for campaigning and introducing nominees at the first town meeting
of the year. It was mentions that campaigning should be restricted.
Respectfully Submitted,
