DEAD EARTH: THE VENGEANCE ROAD
Mark Justice and I have sold the sequel to Dead Earth: The Green Dawn to Permuted Press. Chances are it'll appear at
your local store or web-store sometime in early 2010.
DEAD EARTH: THE VENGEANCE ROAD by Mark Justice & David T. Wilbanks
They crossed over from another world, bringing death and domination to Earth.
With demonic technology they can raise the dead into an unholy conquering army.
The "necros" destroyed Jubal Slate’s home and everyone he loved. Now the only thing that matters to Slate is payback. No matter
how far he has to go or how many undead warriors he must slaughter, Slate and his motley band of followers will stop at nothing
to end the reign of the aliens.
Even if it costs them their lives.
When you’ve lost everything, the only thing left is vengeance.

What's Dave Doing?
Hi guys!
Thought I'd post something so you wouldn't think I'd dropped dead.
I'm right in the middle of writing a dark fantasy (occult) novella. It's been a lot of fun so far; I have no idea where it's
heading and that's part of the excitement. I don't have a specific market in mind for it--not really. But as usual, I'll probably
ship it around and see if anyone bites.
Otherwise, I've been writing short stories, believe it or not. Also, there are plans for a solo novel (or several). But those
are still in the planning stage.
Dead Earth sequel news? Nothing yet. We're still getting our query together. Should be sending it out anytime now though.
Oh, here's something: I recorded a Grim Rictus segment for the next Pod of Horror which should be up in early October, so
listen for that and let me know what you think.
That's all for now. Be good to each other!

How I got into BOL:H
Some of you may be wondering, how did Dave get a list into THE BOOK OF LISTS: HORROR?
Well...
I have Pod of Horror and Scott Bradley to thank. Scott was an enthusiastic fan of the show that Mark Justice and I started.
He was so enthusiastic that Mark made him a book reviewer on the show.
I got to meet Scott in person on a book signing trip I took to Burbank, CA (my only book signing thus far) for DAMNED NATION
and we hit it off well. He was the perfect host: he invited me to a great sandwich place and if he wasn't there to calm me
down before the signing, I might have freaked out (I'm very sensitive, y'know). But it all turned out fine, thanks to him
and I was forever grateful.
Anyway, the next thing you know, he sends me a book called THE NEW BOOK OF LISTS by David Wallechinksy and Amy Wallace. Turns
out, Amy is Scott's girlfriend. A little while after that, I find out that Scott, Amy and Del Howison are putting together
a horror book of lists and Scott asks me to contribute, which was very cool of him, right? I couldn't say no; this was a great
opportunity to work with a friend and get my name in a book with the big shots of horror. I also contributed by suggesting
a couple other writers he might want in there and he agreed. This is a major piece of work and I'm glad to be part of it.
So that's it. Scott Bradley is a sweetheart. Buy BOOK OF LISTS: HORROR and support some wonderful people. I've read the reviews
and they all say it's a lot of fun. You have no excuses.

Sold Another Story to PostScripts
Good news. I sold another short story to PostScripts magazine. This is my second one for them and it’s another fantasy tale
with horror overtones. I’m not sure when it will be published. In fact, I’m not sure when the first one I sold will be published.
But I’ll let you know.

What's Dave Doing?
Man, I had to crash part of the day yesterday, and I was groggy for the rest of it. I haven’t been getting much shut-eye lately
and it has taken its toll. Too much stuff roiling in my brain, I guess. Or maybe it’s because I’m no longer the young stallion
I used to be.
Along with our last “first reader,” I’m reading DEAD EARTH: THE VENGEANCE ROAD one last time before we send it out into the
harsh world of publishing. DE:TVR, in case you don’t know, is a full-length novel and the follow-up to DEAD EARTH: THE GREEN
DAWN which you’ve all read because you own one, right? Right? If not, click the link and buy one. If you dig sf or zombies,
you will dig this. The readers have spoken and that is the consensus. Thanks.
In other writing, I’m working on a horror/mystery novel and have recently submitted a story to a small press anthology. I
haven’t heard back yet, but I wrote it in one day and if my sale to PostScripts is any sort of indication, that’s a good thing
because that story was written in a day as well. But now that I say that, I guess they were written in my head for a long
time before they were keyed into my computer. So maybe I was merely taking dictation from the slop in my brain. I’d like to
write another short story soon for an online magazine, but first I have to come up with a kick-ass idea.

DE:TGD Nominated for a British Fantasy Award
I recently received the good news that DEAD EARTH: THE GREEN DAWN has been nominated for a British Fantasy Award. Mark Justice
and I appear on the "long" list of authors whose novellas are eligible for this prestigious honor. It's nice that
someone out there liked the book enough to nominate it! If you haven't read DE:TGD yet, be sure to visit the book link above
and get your copy before supplies run out!
I thank you.

THE BOOK OF LISTS: HORROR
I'm happy and proud to announce that I'll have a list included in THE BOOK OF LISTS: HORROR, compiled and edited by Amy Wallace,
Del Howison and Scott Bradley. This great book is coming out in September 2008 from Harper Paperbacks and will be available
anywhere fine books are sold. Among many other horror folks with a list in the book will be Stephen King, Eli Roth and Ray
Bradbury. Now, how cool is that? I'm pretty excited about it myself. Be sure to get your copy by pre-ordering at Amazon,
here.
In other news, I should have another short story announcement coming up soon. Stay tuned, friends!

DEAD EARTH Progress Report
Hello there. Thanks for checking in.
I should be receiving the signature sheets for DE:TGD any time now. After I’m
done signing them, they go back to PS Publishing in England. Hopefully we’ll see publication
by the end of the year. That’s the plan anyway. Be sure to pre-order your copy at one of the links below. Or go to the “book
store” on this site.
I’ve been pecking away on a novel and I just sent out another short story.
I have a few of those floating around right now. I don’t write shorts unless a great idea hits, then I try to get it down
on paper. Otherwise, it’s all about novels for me. Writing short stories is a nice change of pace though.
I’ll keep you posted as things develop.
