Hurricane
Ivan was very kind to us and just blew through Alabama. Birmingham
airport was backed up on Friday, but come saturday morning all
was on time. We met at Seattle airport, dropped our bags off
with the cruise people and off to the boat we went. The boat
(photos in a day or so) holds 1900 passengers and about the same
number of crew. It is quite the sight.
We started off with a mandatory
lifeboat drill. Everyone wears their life vests and stands under
their assigned life boat.
After a great dinner we
went back to our room where the beds had already been prepared,
the luggage was delivered to our door. It was an early evening,

Our first day at port was spent
in Juneau Alaska. It was a cold nasty rainy day. We started our
day by walking the deck, exercising and spending about an hour
in the hot tub. The weather was so cold, that we did not get
overheated in the hot tub. We did get a lot of looks about being
crazy. It was actually great, until we had to run from the hot
tub to the towels. Now that was cold.
We had what we thought
was adequate outer wear, but it wasn't even close. We got soaked
and wet, but we had quite the adventure. This is not our ship,
it is the view from our ship.
Downtown
Juneau. We spent the day walking in the rain and shopping. We
have finished all of our souvenier shopping. We found a nice
little restaurant/cafe off the beaten track where we had excellent
Salmon sandwiches and salmon chowder. yum, yum.
