About Our Boats

Daysailer II

There are daysailers, then there are Daysailers! Daysailers are a one-design boat first created in 1956. There are three different designs. The fastest boats are Daysailer I boats, which are the oldest style of boats. Daysailer II and III boats are very similar in design with a cleaner look, but also more weight and therefore not as fast.

Daysailer III boats are also not "Class Legal" for racing, but are fine boats nonetheless.

Our Webmaster, Dan Mejak, shows off his and his wife Robin Lawson's Daysailer II.

Zebra Mussels

Zebra Mussels

Zebra Mussels- R.Griffiths, USFWS

Zebra Mussels are evasive organisms that were brought to Lake Erie by lake freighters that dumped infested bilge water into the lake. We take our boats to Lake Erie and bring the mussels with us back to inland lakes to generally wreak havoc on unsuspecting visitors. We then participate in other regattas and share our Zebra Mussels with everyone's inland lakes in other states. We love to spread the joy!

Seriously, these things are a pain in the you-know-what. Click Here for an excerpt from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources web site. This will tell you what damage they do and how you can help to keep these things from spreading.
