ABOUT LAURENCE GALIAN

LAURENCE GALIAN, published author, composer, classical pianist, Tarot Card Reader, Sound Healer, Metaphysical Anthropologist of Ancient Humankind, is also a practicing Sufi.

Professionally, Laurence is a Piano Dance Accompanist and Composer at COCA (Center of Creative Arts), and Dance St. Louis, in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. In 2006, Laurence Galian played piano for the 2006 USA International Ballet Competition, held in Jackson, Mississippi.

For more than twenty-one years, Laurence Galian served as Senior Dance Accompanist, at Hofstra University (Hempstead, New York). During his long career, Laurence Galian has accompanied some of the finest Stars and Companies of the ballet and dance world. A double-length CD of his ballet music is available from Roper Records, Inc.

The Sufis say, "All wisdom is the believer's lost camel." Laurence Galian has always had one goal: first-hand gnosis. Beginning in 1971, the Divine continued to widen his horizons, as Laurence Galian became deeply involved with Rudolf Steiner's Anthroposophy and Max Heindel's Rosicrucianism. Rudolf Steiner's teachings opened new spiritual possibilities to Mr. Galian. He continued his pursuit of the esoteric and studied Qabalah with a student of a famous Rabbi from Chernobyl.

In 1980, Laurence Galian was introduced to Sufism through listening to the WBAI-FM program "In the Spirit" hosted by Dr. Lex Hixon. In 1980, Galian "took hand" (also known as Bai'at ) with Grand Sheikh Muzafferuddin "Ashki" Ozak of the Halveti-Jerrahi Order of Dervishes from Istanbul, Turkey. Laurence traveled several times to the Halveti-Jerrahi tekke in Istanbul, Turkey.

In the late 1980's, Laurence delved deeply into the Western Mystery Traditions, exploring Wicca and Neo-Paganism. After a long period of study, Laurence was initiated as a Wiccan Priest of the Welsh and Celtic traditions in 1987.

Laurence Galian explores the essential natural of reality. He has been on a long pilgrimage into the mystical realm of the unconscious. Oriental religions have recommended this journey for thousands of years. He has invested in his self-discovery, exploring the essence of what it is to be Human.

From 1990-1994 he wrote his first book, "Beyond Duality: The Art of Transcendence," (New Falcon Publications), and then for the next ten years, traveled the world writing his new book, "The Sun at Midnight: The Revealed Mysteries of the Ahlul Bayt Sufis" (Quiddity Inc.). Both books are now available through Amazon.com

During this time, Galian also helped translate the book of a famous Russian metaphysician, Abessalom Podvodny (Alexander Kamenski), into English. His job in this endeavor was to transform the work of the Russian-English translator into the American vernacular. Presently, he is assisting Dr. Nevit O. Ergin to translate the Rubais of the poet Rumi into English.

Mr. Laurence Galian has traveled throughout Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Colombia, England, France, Ireland, Israel, Mexico, Palestine, and Turkey

Essentially, Mr. Galian's practices derive from the non-dualistic schools of thought, in the tradition of certain Sufi Traditions such as the Bektashi Dervishes in Turkey. He places great emphasis on what is known as the Divine Feminine (see Galian's article on this subject on this website), and perceiving Truth clearly: free of cultural clutter, parental "programming", as well as assorted preconceptions and misconceptions that people generally have about spirituality and the spiritual path.

Mr. Galian experiences the power of Spirit - of Spirit not over, but in integral partnership with the Universe.

The Kennedy Center presented Laurence Galian with an award for his work as Musical Director at Hofstra University, and his name appears in the 2007 International Who’s Who in Music (Cambridge, England).

On April 3, 2009, Abdullah Muzaffer married Tasnim al-Jerrahi (Dr. Janine Rodiles) from the Mexico City "Nur Ashki Jerrahi" Sufi tekke. Together they launched in July of 2009 a vast new project:
