Below is a list of butterfly species I have recorded at Cheltenham Wetland Park in Clinton, Maryland over the past several years, beginning in 1992. Obviously there are several other species that may be expacted to occur there in months other than those I have records for. So far I have recorded a total of 53 species at the park.
The list was last updated on March 27, 1998.
To reach Cheltenham Wetland Park from the Capital Beltway, take Branch Avenue (Rte. 5) South to Surrats Road. Go left on Surrats Road to Frank Tippet Road. Take a left on Frank Tippet Road and go about one mile to Como Road. Turn left at Como Road (there is a sign for the Park there at the intersection) and continue down it until you cross a bridge over the creek. Park just beyond the bridge and walk in...no vehicles are allowed inside the Park. On the map below, the Park is the green spot with "Piscataway Creek" written across it.
