- Comments: NGC 7000, the North American Nebula, in Cygnus is one of the few nebulas that requires no real imagination to see it's namesake. The resemblance to North America is remarkable. It's is one of the most popular objects in the sky to photograph. Even the brighter portions are difficult to see visually. To get the most out of this object requires a field approaching 2-3 degrees and a very dark sky. A nebula filter does wonders on this region. To the right of NGC 7000 is IC 5070, the Pelican Nebula. This one requires a little imagination.
