three views of a SMD astable mv

These pictures are of a quick attempt at a freeform circuit. An article on Hack a Day triggered the project. I wanted to build something relatively simple, so I chose an astable multivibrator. That's a fancy way to say that it blinks some LEDs. The parts to build it all came from desoldered boards, and include LEDs, sot-23 transistors, 1206 resistors. It took about 4 hours to assemble, and two resistors became destroyed during assembly when their solder pads were accidentally torn off.

The layout was intended to be symmetric and provide some way to attach a power source. The battery holder solved the power source problem, it should run for at least 8 hours on a new battery.
