Update: 4/15/2007

Minor adjustments to the links. Who is even reading this? It is time to move on! This is the last announced update.

Update: 11/8/2006

Hurrah! This is the longest break between updates so far! I bet no one even looks here anymore. I just added a link to FoxTrot.com, which I would have added earlier but I was too lazy to bother. Oh, I also linked to this page from my Wikipedia Userpage. This is hardly of any consequence, since no one knows that it exists.

Update/Rant: 05/16/2006

I added a link to the Dune Novels website. If you have not read Dune, and you like Science Fiction, then I strongly recommend the series. Sometime in the next year or so, the new books Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Dune will be released, and I look forward to getting these books because they will complete the series where Frank Herbert left off. The first three chapters from Hunters of Dune have been released, but I will hold off on reading them for as long as I can.
The next subject I will cover is the impending summer vacation. It is nice to not have school for a few months, but I am not looking forward to summer reading at all, since this year I have to do "Double Entry Journals," which basically means I have to cite a passage from each chapter and explain what I think it means. Or something like that. I don't like analyzing a story as I read it, and I can't stand going back over stuff I have read recently. Dune is great because I don't have to analyze it--I can simply enjoy the story as it unfolds--but the books on the summer reading list will not be enjoyable, not only because they aren't sci-fi/fantasy, but because I have to think deeply about everything that happens. This is about the same as asking me to figure out the deeper meaning of character dialogue in a video game; it isn't worth the effort and takes away from the game! I have more to say, but I will probably forget about it before my next update (these updates are becoming more sporadic because I have little that I can do/will say on this page).

Rant: 04/13/2006

It has been a while since I posted anything, and so I finally decided to write some about the past few weeks. On Saturday, April 1, I took the SAT, which is a top secret test now, and if I talk about it the government will cut out my tongue and imprison me for no less than thirty years. Or, more likely, they will invalidate my test. I am only glad I took it on April Fool's Day. Nothing much happened after that until last Friday when I went to a math competition with three other students from my school. My school came in second in the competition, mostly because we didn't undergo much in the way of preparation while the school in first had spent months practicing. I came in fourth overall, and first out of the team my school sent, which is a fair score, I suppose I am at least one of the top ten math students in the whole county (in senior high, at least). Then, on Tuesday, I went to a band competition, but not just any band competition; this one was way down south (a three hour bus trip) and was a state level competition. I woke up at 3:15 AM to get on a bus for the three hour trip, played soon after we arrived, and then spent about seven to eight hours waiting to leave while other performances finished up. I returned around 7:00 PM, which meant that the total time spent away from home was fourteen hours and forty-five minutes. For a five minute performance. Of course, due to my absence, I figured I would have 5 tests to make up yesterday, but I only took a few, leaving two for today. I really need to stop rambling; it is a bad habit, and I use way too many semicolons for it to be healthy. Maybe I am not using them correctly, and if I am not, you grammar nazis out there can mail me about it and completely annoy me! Well, since I need to change subjects again in order to keep my brain from working, I might recommend listening to some of the pieces performed by Francesco Cafiso, who is apparently a saxophone prodigy and has no shame in posting his performances on the internet for total strangers to download. I have run out of things to rant about, or at least things I don't mind strangers reading!

Update/Rant: 03/18/2006

All I updated was changing the anchor text for a few links and fixed the image in the address bar (a few pixels seemed to be out of place).
I am bored today, and I think it is because I have only a few things to do, and I have been doing them for most of spring break. I am sick of practicing for tomorrow's battle with Boron, which I hope to win anyway. I expect some of the changes in my strategy will throw him off, at first, but I doubt it will work for very long. I still use the left/right smash attacks way too much (they are great in most cases) and need to practice using the side-b move effectively (a good surprise attack). Yesterday, I saw Doctor Who for the first time (the new series) and kind of enjoyed it. The Doctor is crazy and kind of reminds me of Ford Prefect (the alien from H2G2). My allergies seem to be doing better today, and I have just about run out of topics to randomly switch to. Well, maybe next week will be more interesting, since I will actually be in school then.

Rant: 03/16/2006

I did something really dumb yesterday. I watched twelve hours and fifty four minutes of Star Wars movies, or, as one might say, I watched all of them in order (Arsenic endured this, also). Non-stop Star Wars for almost thirteen hours is an extremely dangerous thing to try, and if anyone who reads this feels the urge to watch all six Star Wars movies back-to-back, let me tell you right now: you will wish you hadn't. I still have a neck-ache and my appetite is completely ruined by all the junk food I consumed. I will probably have the music from Episodes V and VI stuck in my head for the rest of my life. Now, to answer the question on everyone's mind: yes, it was worth it in the end. Now I can claim to have seen all the Star Wars movies in a row in a single day! I don't know what good it will do me, but at least I did it, and proved that I could endure all six of them in one sitting without completely losing my mind. Perhaps I had to lose it before I even tried this, but in any case, I made it and it is over! HAH! Now I am going to waste my time in more less-- on something else. Yeah.

Update/Rant: 03/13/2006

A week or so ago, I started to read a web comic just because it had a slime mold in it. Strange, yes, but I am glad I did, because after just over a week, I read over 2000 strips and got caught up to date on some seven years of General Protection Fault Comics and probably made my optometrist's wallet fatter at my next appointment because of all the time I spent staring at a computer screen. Seriously, I became obsessed with the thing, for some weird reason. Well, I have to wait an entire day between strips now, so I have more time (once again) to goof off and play video games and bother the internet again. I added the link to General Protection Fault to the external links, simply to ensure that other viewers of my site torture their optic orbs as much as I did. Aside from that, sometime over Spring Break I will sit down and watch all six Star Wars movies back to back in a single day. This will further add to the fattening of my optometrist's wallet, as well as probably shorten my life span by a good 10 years. Further, my connection seems slow today. I wonder why? Wow, so this is what I do in my spare time; sit around reading web comics, play video games, and attempt to give myself a heart attack while watching an absurd movie marathon. Aren't you glad you aren't me?
Ah, I knew I forgot something! I am not as angry about the whole computer theft thing now, and I intend to put it behind me. That will be all!
Maybe not. I seem to have forgotten to update some of my other pages to the last update, and so I am doing that now! This really is all!

Rant: 02/26/2006

I am angry. Why? Some one (people, more likely) broke into my house and stole my computers on Thursday. This computer is a new one, and it is very nice, but I would much rather have the old one back with all of the stuff I had on it. At least dad had a backup hard drive to keep all the files on, and it had been updated the night before the theft. This new computer is one of those Intel Macs, and won't be able to run some of the old applications (it can't even run the classic environment), so I will have to use an ancient beast of a computer that can actually boot in OS 9 to run some of the older/less advanced programs. Aside from the computers, the PlayStation 2 was stolen, and it happened to have a copy of Katamari Damacy in it, as well as the memory card for all the games. My sister also had her wallet stolen, but I don't really know much about that, anyway. I didn't lose anything from my room, mostly because it is too much of a mess for anyone to find anything in it in a hurry. Anyway, I am still angry about losing the computers, PS2 and memory card, and I WANT THOSE THIEVES PUT IN PRISON! I have indigestion right now, and I have run out of ranting fuel, so I may resume this later. Meh.

Rant: 02/20/2006

Today is commonly observed as Presidents' Day in the United States, but Presidents' Day is not a federal holiday in any way. Today is the official observance of George Washington's Birthday. I felt that I should point this out to the people who continue to blindly celebrate "Presidents' Day", which is, as I hope I have made clear, only recognized by most people. Don't forget, just because everyone does it, it doesn't make it right! I will cut out here, before I begin a crazy political rant; I do try to avoid those. On a lighter note, I have once again begun an attempt to learn C, and I am once again bashing my brains out over this complicated language. I have much to learn, and it takes a while to learn it. I need to learn VIM, because it is extremely useful, or at least it sounds extremely useful. I took up StarCraft again, so I will probably waste much more of my free time for a while.

Update: 02/10/2006

So I haven't updated for a while. Let's see if I can remember how to do this... I added some links, removed some others, renamed a page to other, and generally attempted to clean up a few things. I added a new link, Space.com, a website about space. Seriously. They do have some neat pictures, though... I placed some other links in the link menu, too. I was sick of not having Wikipedia there, so I finally added that. Same goes for Dave Barry. I removed the Onion and Albino Blacksheep, because I stopped using them and got sick of looking at them. I think that is about all I have to say for now. I may rant again soon, so stay tuned!

Rant: 12/22/2005

Yesterday, I went with my cousin and aunt to Busch Gardens, and I got to ride the lovely roller-coasters. First, we went on "Sheikrah", the vertical drop coaster which pretends it is a bird hunting fish. We then went to Kumba, which is very loud, but it had no line, so we went again. This may have been a mistake. While we were on our way up the lift, the train stops rather suddenly, and one of the employees comes running out to solve a potentially lethal problem: a seatbelt in an empty seat, in an empty ROW, was not buckled. This stop generated another problem, though. It seems that someone in the first row was somewhat nervous, and decided that he wanted off, and so the employee ran all the way back down, brought someone else up with what appeared to be a wrench, and then they released the harness and let him go. We then had to wait some more for all of the safety checks, which took longer than the initial incident, and then this voice comes over the intercom and says something like this: "Wamhamhamhmmahmmaaaamawewahma! Hamwawaahahamaamaawahamahawammhahwhawhm, hawhamhmhhmammaahmwahmahahm." This was hysterical to both my cousin and me, since the voice was obviously garbled beyond recognition by a genuine, "Hi-fi" speaker system. The ride then proceeded as normal, and we enjoyed it. The next ride we decided to go on is the most terrifying ride in the whole park: the "Cheetah Chase", which looks like a kiddie ride, but is really a terror-inducing curved track of doom. About 50 feet in the air, I found myself veering around curves, feeling as though either I would fly out of the cart, or the cart would fall off the track. Most coasters bank their turns inwards, but not Cheetah Chase. No, it has turns banked OUT, which means you are almost launched from the cart every time it turns. I managed to survive this, and then went on a few more rides, saw some apes, bats, turtles, etc. It seemed I went at the wrong, or maybe right time, to see the apes. According to my aunt, one of the chimpanzees had an interesting method of defecation. According to her, this chimpanzee used its finger to "stimulate the flow" and then it caught the excrement in its hand, and ate it. What fun! I am glad I missed that. Today was the first time I had ever tried the "Dippin' Dots Ice Cream of the Future", which is a buch of little ice cream balls, frozen to temperatures between -20 and -70 degrees Fahrenheit, which means they tend to use dry ice to keep it in shape. I managed to numb my mouth completely after eating only a "small" cup of these, and I felt the same way I feel after having a shot of Procaine (2-diethylaminoethyl 4-aminobenzoate hydrochloride or C13H20N2O2•HCl) at the dentist. Eventually, my mouth returned to normal. Back to rides... Montu is, of course, the only inverted coaster at Busch Gardens at Tampa, and so we went on that one twice. The first time was relatively uneventful, but the second time I had the inspiration that it would be a great idea to bring a bottle of Mountain Dew with me. I kept this in my jacket pocket, and realized what was probably happening to it as I tumbled upside down over one of the loops. When I exited the ride, I cautiously opened the bottle, expecting the worst, but it didn't even fizz! I took a sip, and the soda had become rather flat. Strange, I thought, why no fizz, if it became so flat? I decided this was a mystery best left unsolved, and we left the park shortly after that. I suppose I went back on my word about brief rants, but I have a lot to say, and posting it in segments would only be more annoying.
