"Art is a transformation of life - physical & spiritual, conscious & unconscious, intuitive & intellectual. It is a celebration of life and the essence of living. For me, art validates the connection between everyone and everything." - Miko

Artist's Background

Miko Yamaguchi graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1982. While in attendance at RISD, she studied various aspects of fine art and design concentrating on figure drawing, film making, typographic design and book design. Since graduating, Miko has continued to explore color, movement, energy and the transformation of the figure.

In the past four years, Miko began experimenting with printmaking techniques including etching, monotype, image transfer and emulsion transfer. Her main focus is figurative works and travel journals realized through drawing and printmaking techniques.

Five years ago, Miko left the computer software industry to focus on the fine arts. She had her first solo exhibit of Prints & Polaroid Transfers in 1995. Miko has also participated in several group exhibits including the National Juried Exhibition of Small Works in NJ and the 65th Annual Statewide Exhibition in CA. She teaches seminars in Polaroid printing & manipulation techniques sponsored by Polaroid Corporation.
