Here is my Chinese Chess set. I stuck vinyl letters above the Chinese characters to help me remember the pieces.
K = King (General)
S = Counsellor (also known as Advisor or Guard)
C = Cannon
M = Minister (also known as Elephant, and sometimes given as Bishop)
N = Knight (Horse)
P = Pawn (Soldier)
R = Rook (also known as Chariot)
I must confess to spending some money in making the board. I designed the board using Mac Draw Pro, saved the design on disk and took the disk to a sign-making shop. I had them make a board out of vinyl, so I could roll it up and store it in a mailing tube. I could have just printed out the design and had it enlarged and laminated at Kinko's, but I really like this game and wanted a more permanent board.
