Jonah, an escapee from a commercial breeder, joined the pack in September 2003. His owner surrendered him
to rescue due to a low sperm count. Jonah is the policeman of the pack, always guarding the house and
warding off unwanted, uninvited guests. And everyone is uninvited in his eyes.
He loves his tummy scratched and never fails to produce "Old Faithful" squirts into the air with each tummy rub.
While I really wish he wouldn't do that, I accept that he has no control of his bladder in times of being disciplined or getting
tummy rubs. He is improving in that area.
You probably noticed that Patch came from a puppy mill, but Jonah from a commercial breeder, and you may be asking yourself
what is the difference. I make that differenciation based on this. - A commercial breeder houses dogs,
breeds dogs for a money making venture - yet they do not loose sight of the medical care, emotional care and moral issues
of their business. A puppy mill on the other hand, ignores the needs of the animals, exploits their little bodies until
they die or are discarded as no longer a financial value. Jonah's previous owner cared about his health and his disposition.
He was surrendered to rescue and she was aware that he would be safe and cared for the rest of his life. Jonah has a
few social problems that we have not yet been able to conquer. All in your timing, my boy.
