This site is to introduce you to the dachshund - small, loveable, yet bred to be stubborn, defiant! in many respects. It
is one of the traits of this breed that makes it so challenging, and so loving. And so addicting! We love our weiner dogs.
To tell you about rescue and why it is necessary - and what you can do to help the overpopulation of unwanted litters
that keep happening when it is so easy to stop. Spaying and neutering your pets helps them stay healthier longer, and eases
the overpopulation.
To explain the the breed standard, the variety of sizes, coats, colors and patterns. Dachshunds have the widest variety
of these combinations of any breed.
(More to come later as I re-write this page following my retirement from rescue.)
And I must not forget the fosterdogs I have had in the past and the page that honors them and their new families. That
one will take some time so we may start with the most current and work back to the very first. So look for Hunter in KC area);
Bailey (in Illinois), Shadow (in Ohio), and Bear (in KC area) in the next week or two. And Katie, who went to live in a KC
metro nursing home. That had to be my most memorable adoption (partially because I acted as matchmaker instead of foster
mom, but the adoption enriched so many lives for such a tiny dog). It is late! I must end for now.
