The Gold Coast Australian
Cattle Dog Club (GCACDC) was the first regional Northern California specialty club organized in 1979 after the founding of
the parent breed club, The Australian Cattle Dog Club of America (ACDCA), in 1967. The GCACDC is sanctioned by the ACDCA and
adheres to the principals and rules of the AKC. Our goals are the same as the national club, to educate the public and other
owners about the pure-bred Australian Cattle Dog (ACD), while protecting the breed as a whole.
Gold Coast ACD Club is open
to anyone owning an Australian Cattle Dog, registered or unregistered. We have 4 basic types of memberships: Full ($20), Family
($25), Junior ($5) and Associate ($10). All members receive a monthly newsletter and are invited to participate in club sponsored
events. Full, Family and Junior members have voting privileges but are required to attend 2 club functions per year.
The club meets once a month
at various places within the Bay Area and Sacramento Valley and has a monthly newsletter. We provide the decorated benching
at The Golden Gate Kennel Club show each year. We also participate in the UC Davis Picnic Day All Breed Showcase as well as
sponsor herding tests and trials, clinics and other educational events.
Because of the versatility
of our breed, club members are able to participate in a wide range of activities with their dogs. While some are avid herders,
members also participate in conformation, obedience, agility, tracking and search and rescue.
If you are interested in
becoming a member, please print and fill out the Membership Application and send it in to the club treasurer listed on the application. We encourage you to attend a club meeting so that we
can meet you. If you can not attend a meeting please include a brief letter of introduction to the club along with your
application. Don't worry about sponsors, someone at the meeting will sponsor you.
