A dedicated, knowledgeable teacher, I am currently President of the New York Singing Teachers' Association (NYSTA), with twenty-five years of performing experience (solo CDs available at Tower Records: "Urban Diva," "Restless Spirits," "The Complete Songs of Charles Ives"), expertise in all musical styles from belt to opera, and solid grounding in anatomy and acoustics. 	About My Voice Studio I work with both professional singers and speakers, and with those who pursue voice study strictly for pleasure or to build self-confidence. We begin with a thorough discussion of your reasons for studying voice, and establish short and long-term goals. Following our initial talk, I will introduce some vocal exercises to assess your technical abilities and weaknesses. The next step is to develop a detailed plan to expand your skills and enable you to achieve your goals successfully. So what kinds of things do we work on in a lesson? Breath flow, resonance, posture, alignment, flexility in the jaw, tongue and muscles of the torso, relaxation in the throat, phrasing, legato. My emphasis is on flexibility and freedom of all parts of the vocal mechanism and I have developed many ways to helping students find this. I am successful in developing young voices, retraining experienced singers in overcoming vocal limitations, and assisting teachers, lawyers and other voice users to improve their speaking habits and gain confidence in speaking publicly. Most persistent vocal problems can be fixed, it just takes time, patience and trust in yourself and your teacher.
	Of course, singing is a creative act and technical studies should always support the artistic spark. I can help develop your imaginative abilities, your command of style and vocal color, diction and languages and help you gain poise and confidence as a performer.
