The last gasp of the Brat Pack?
Our boy Stephen has been brought up to be the fifth in a line of prestigious Johns Hopkins graduates, but despite intense Family pressure and their considerable influence, he only manages waiting list status, and finds himself behind several other deserving students.
What`s a poor little rich boy to do? Bribe the others to drop off the stand-by list, of course, and wait for the inevitable dropout from the regular roster, then assume his rightful place in the pantheon of Hopkins alumni. Half-baked rasta hacker Dave helps Stephen concoct and enact this cockamamie scheme, which seems to work at first.
An unfortunate series of accidents begins as Stephen commences his course of bribery with the wiley Andrew, who realizes the plan, but takes the money anyway. Every other candidate for possible admission accepts the money but dies soon after, unbeknownst to our naive hero. He comes down to the last candidate ahead of him on the list, the cute and hard-working Kristy. Just then the string of murders begins to be blamed on Stephen and they fight together to clear his name, but to no avail.
The suave, evil Andrew shows his hand as the murderer when he tries to do away with both of them to place himself on top of the JHU waiting list and complete Stephen`s plan. Our hero and heroine defeat him and he dies a painful, accidental death by his own devices.
Having fallen in love during their adventure, our boy cannot bring himself to ask Kristy to step aside. She is admitted instead of him to his beloved Johns Hopkins medical school-but it`s alright, for they are married, and she is the fifth generation of the family to belong to that illustrious student body!
Comment: former major FFTTM star Andrew is now relegated to the role of anti-hero and comic relief. How the mighty have fallen during this totally spent decade!
Trivia: cameos by Friends` Matthew Perry and Calista "Ally McBeal" Flockhart- they both die in the movie, and that is very cool, indeed! (especially the latter)
