At First Sight (1995) Trimark

Written by Ben Copel, Directed by Steven Pearl

Starring: Jonathan Silverman, Dan Cortese, Allison Smith, Kathleen Freeman, Monte Markham, Mariangela Pino, Shannon Sturges, Kristin Datilo-Hayward

Single Guy Jonathan, ever the romantic, falls for a lovely young girl, while his TV co-star Dan, the consumate player, steers him in the direction of cheap pick ups and bar dates after his own failed attempts at true love. Jonathan and Dan go through love-related controversies and hijinx concerning male-female relations and other dynamics.

Cynical Dan tries to sabotage the budding romantic love affair, and Jonathan seeks revenge by setting Dan up on a "blind" date with the latter`s old girlfriend, for whom he still has some affection. Will the cynic be cured of his malady and embrace romance again?

No, this does not come to pass, and Jonathan disobeys his heart by dumping his beloved and following the evermore ironic Dan into the hipster netherworld of smart alec wit, self-absorbtion and other fruitless pursuits. Fade to black as our ironic heroes putz along a fairway while playing "extreme" golf and waxing philosophic over whether Phoebe is hotter than Rachel, or whatever.

Comment: The last wheezing gasp of the Brat Pack, or any associated actor. Just another movie about nothing...in fact, it is now being marketed under the title Two Guys Talking about Girls-that`s about all they do here.

Trivia: there is a newer movie with the same title featuring Real Genius` Val Kilmer and Mira Sorvino (she`s an Oscar Winner and daughter of Paul Sorvino from Goodfellas, The Best Mob Movie Ever), hence the title change.
