Don Robinson is a heavily experienced Knifemaker, Tool & Die Maker, Tool Designer, and Manufacturing Engineer.
This book is designed to teach a knifemaker or an experienced machinist who has access to a milling machine how to build
a complete knife and sheath.
There is one difference in this method and others. The flats on the blade are made using a milling machine.
This makes it easy to produce a matched plunge on both sides of the blade, and an even, flat, centered cutting edge.
Although the book uses a large fixed blade as an example, the same method applies to any blade, small or large, fixed
or folder blades.
I use this method on every blade I make. For me it's easier, faster, and more accurate than grinding the flats by hand.
