The main line coming north reaches the wye whose west apex is at Carroll Street, but at which the main line turns east-northeast with a flat crossing of another line (between Carroll Street and FW Tower) in the middle of the curve, with a bridge over a street, crossovers, and a bridge over a street before reaching the east apex of the wye, to CP 437 (MP 437.2), where the line from Niagara Falls trails in from the west, with a through girder bridge overhead and a signal bridge east of the junction. The speed limit rises to 60-30, there is an intermodal yard on the south side, a line turns away southeast to FW Tower, another line trails in from the southwest from FW Tower, there is a yard on the south side of the line, a signal bridge (Intermediate Signals at MP 436.x), a large wye on the north aide with a line along the north side to the former Buffalo Central Terminal, with six umbrella shed on island platforms, all of which is now derelict, and to the north around the northeast side of Buffalo, a bridge over a divided highway below, the speed limit drops to 45 mph between MP 435.9 and MP 435.4 (the connectors to the former passenger station).
The speed limit rises to 79-50 past a road bridge overhead, to the west end of the 10-12 track Frontier Yard, on the north side of the line, the crossovers at CP 434 (MP 434.2), the former Lackawanna line bridges overhead, the main line edges just north of due east as it passes the now 4-5 track Frontier Yard (MP 433.5), which ends with two extra tracks on the north side at the crossovers at CP 433 (MP 433.1), where the speed limit becomes 79-60, past a bridge over an Interstate highway, a bridge over a street, a street alongside to the south, and a bridge over a road, and there is a connector north to the remnants of the former West Shore line just before there was once a flat crossing with the Lehigh Valley. Today's passenger trains stop at Depew Amtrak Station (MP 431.7), where the depot and platform are on the south side, there are crossovers and a signal bridge at CP 431 (MP 431.1), with a track curving away north, a road alongside to the north, and a signal bridge and crossovers at CP 429 (MP 429.8), end of the two extra tracks on the north side, where the speed limits become 79-70-60-50, a grade crossing, and a bridge over a dirt road.
The double track line passes a bridge over a road, Intermediate Signals on a signal bridge at Lancaster (MP 428.9), an airstrip on the north side Intermediate Signals (MP 427.x), detectors at MP 427.1, a grade crossing, a bridge over a road, Intermediate Signals (MP 425.x), detectors at MP 424, two road bridges overhead, two grade crossing, a signal bridge at the west end of the crossovers at CP 423 (MP 423.4), a road bridge overhead, Intermediate Signals on a signal bridge at Wende (MP 422.2), two grade crossings, Intermediate Signals on a signal bridge (MP 419.x), a road bridge overhead, signal bridges and crossovers at CP 417 (MP 417.7), a grade crossing, a dirt track grade crossing, crossovers at CP 415 (MP 415.2), a bridge over a road, Corfu (MP 414.8), a grade crossing, two bridges over streams, Intermediate Signals (MP 413.x), two grade crossings, crossovers at CP 410 (MP 410.9), with a signal bridge at the east end, a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals on a signal bridge (MP 408.x), a grade crossing, detectors at MP 407.4, a grade crossing, crossovers at CP 406 (MP 406.7), where a 20,650 ft. north side siding starts, and a Genesee valley spur trailing in on the north side, three extra tracks on the north side.
There are Intermediate Signals at Batavia (MP 402.9), where another NYC line once trailed in from the west-northwest, the Erie once crossed, the Lehigh Valley and another NYC line departed to the southeast, and the Erie once crossed again, as the line turns east-northeast, past crossovers at CP 402 (MP 402.4), where that siding (the Batavia Industrial Track) ends, a grade crossing, two through girder bridges over ??, a line departing to the east-southeast, MP 402, a road bridge overhead, a disused railway bridge overhead, a turn east, Intermediate Signals (MP 400.x), a through truss bridge over ??, a bridge over an "Interstate" highway, a turn east-northeast again, a grade crossing, a signal bridge (Intermediate Signals, MP 398.x), South Byron (MP 395.9), a bridge over a road, crossovers at CP 393 (MP 393.8), four grade crossings, crossovers at CP 390 (MP 390.4), two grade crossings, Bergen (MP 389.1), crossovers at CP 388 (MP 388.6), a turn to the east, a dirt road grade crossing, detectors at MP 386.5 ("Churchville, NY"), a bridge over a river, a grade crossing, Churchville (MP 385.9), a grade crossing, and crossovers at CP 382 (Chili Junction, MP 382.6), where the line to Rochester turns northeast and the former West Shore freight bypass continues eastward.
