KCS Junction to Big Sandy

At KCS Junction (MP 210.3), the eponymous railroad heads north on trackage once owned by SP, and the main line turns east onto the original Texas & Pacific right-of-way. The line is single track, CTC, with speed limit 40 mph at the junction, heading east across a bridge over the outlet from White Rock Lake and past a wide road bridge overhead, a bridge over a limited access divided highway, the 7,255 ft. north side Miller Siding (CPT T210, MP 209.8-CPT T209, MP208.3), where the speed limit rises to 60-50, with a grade crossing, and a pair of grade crossings surrounding a wide road bridge, within the siding, a 20,613 ft. siding, starting at MP 207.6 (CPT T207), past a grade crossing, a divided street grade crossing, a grade crossing, crossovers at MP 206.6, two separate spurs curving away to the south, two bridges over divided streets, Skyline (MP 205.5), where there is additional track, a wide highway bridge overhead, a street alongside to the south, a grade crossing, a bridge over a street, two grade crossings, and a bridge over a street, and ending at Mesquite (MP 203.5), where there is an autorack yard and the speed limit is 70-60.

There is a grade crossing, a detector at MP 201.7, where the speed limit is 75-60,  Intermediate Signals, a street bridge overhead, a street alongside to the south, two grade crossings, a grade crossing at Larson Road, a bridge over a river, the 7,311 ft. siding at Marith (MP 199.9-198.3), at the west end of which a spur once headed north, and where the speed limit is 70-60 past a dirt track grade crossing within the siding, where the countryside is wooded scrubland with some unproductive fields, four grade crossings in town (Marith), a curve to the southeast, past a grade crossing, an industrial spur heading southeast, a grade crossing into a plant, a curve northeast, past an industrial spur trailing in from the south, a grade crossing into a plant, a spur heading away southeast, a grade crossing, a curve southeast past additional track at Forney (MP 194.0), and then a curve east again, past Intermediate Signals at MP 191.x, Intermediate Signals at MP 189.2, a dirt road grade crossing, a bridge over a stream, a highway alongside to the north, the 7,275 ft. north side siding at Lawrence (MP 187.7-186.2), where the speed limit has risen to 75-60, with a grade crossing, dual highway bridges overhead at a very acute angle, and a dirt track grade crossing within the siding, a grade crossing, a spur trailing in from the southwest, grade crossing, a spur trailing in from a Renfro plant, and a grade crossing.

At the 4,406 ft. south side siding at Terrell (MP 182.4-181.4), an SP line once trailed in from the south and then departed to the northeast after crossing on the flat, and there are four grade crossings in town, the old Terrell depot on the south side, industrial spurs heading southeast, a grade crossing, and a dirt track grade crossing within the siding, after which there is a dirt track grade crossing, a grade crossing, a detector (box on the south side) at MP 180.0, a dirt track grade crossing, a highway alongside to the north (US 60), a grade crossing, a bridge over a divided highway (US 60), a highway (US 60) alongside to the south, the 7,215 ft. siding at Elmo (MP 176.7-175.1), with a grade crossing within the siding, two grade crossings, Intermediate Signals at Cobbs, two bridges over drainage, a grade crossing, a bridge over a stream, a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals, a grade crossing, a bridge over drainage, a dirt track grade crossing, the 7,569 ft. siding at Wills Point (MP 168.3-166.7), with two grade crossings in town, an old depot on the south side (now a town museum), and a grade crossing in town within the siding, a stuffed-and-mounted caboose on the south side of the line, a street alongside to the south as US 60 turns away, a grade crossing, and a lake alongside to the south.

There is a detector at MP 162.3, a grade crossing, a lake alongside to the south, two grade crossings, a grade crossing in town, a spur trailing in on the south side at the west end of the 7,335 ft. south side siding at Edgewood (MP 159.6-158.1), MP 159, a grade crossing within the siding, a road bridge overhead, a bridge over a stream, a bridge over a divided highway, hay fields, Amoco, a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals at Fruitvale, four grade crossings, the 7,272 ft. south side siding at Grand Saline (MP 151.1-149.6), where the Texas Short Line Railway once crossed at grade, with a road bridge overhead, a spur turning away southeast at the former Texas Short Line, and a grade crossing within the siding, a grade crossing, Intermediate Signals and a detector at MP 146.8, Intermediate Signals at Silver Lake, two bridges over streams, piney woods alongside, a grade crossing, a dirt track grade crossing, a grade crossing, signals, a bridge over the Sabine River, a dirt road grade crossing,  and a jog to the northeast returning to east-southeast.

There is a siding and/or yard tracks on the north side, and a yard on the south side of the line, at Mineola (MP 138.9-135.9), where an MKT line once joined from the north at a wye at the east end of the yard, there are two grade crossings, a passenger station (depot on the south side), a grade crossing east of the depot, the east end of the siding, with additional yard tracks on the south side where a MoPac line once headed south-southeast to Tyler, a road bridge overhead and five grade crossings..

The main line continues past Intermediate Signals at Hoard (MP 133.x), a detector at Debbie (MP 128.8), where there is additional track, a grade crossing, a bridge over a stream, a dirt road grade crossing, a grade crossing, two dirt road grade crossings, a dirt track grade crossings, woods then a lake, Lake Fork, a bridge over a stream, a dirt road grade crossing, more woods, four grade crossings, the 7,342 ft. siding at Fada (MP 124.9-123.4), two dirt track grade crossings within the siding, two dirt track grade crossings, a road bridge overhead, Crow, and additional track at Hawkins (MP 118.6), to the 7,168 ft. siding at Big Sandy (MP 114.5-113.0), and the junction (northwest quadrant) and flat crossing with the ex-SP (former St. Louis Southwestern, aka Cotton Belt), crossing from southwest to northeast at the east end of that location.
