Royalton to Parkesburg

At the crossovers at CP Roy (Royalton, MP 94.3), the former PRR Royalton Branch along the east bank of the river departs to the northeast side of the track, curves southeast to pass beneath the main line, and heads south, past Three Mile Island, while the double track main line turns south-southeast, past a street alongside to the north, a line departing on the north side, a bridge over a river, a road bridge overhead, two bridges over streets, four road bridges overhead, two bridges over streets, and two grade crossings, and then east, with speed limit 70/60-40, past a road bridge overhead, Conewago, where a branch once headed northeast, a westbound detector at MP 89.9, the passenger station at Elizabethtown (MP 86.8), where the line turns just south of east, MP 84.0, where both tracks become 70 mph for passenger trains, Rheems, Floring (MP 80.7), the passenger station at Mount Joy (MP 80.1), a road bridge overhead, Intermediate Signals, a highway alongside to the north, Intermediate Signals, an eastbound detector at MP 73.6, MP 73, where passenger speeds rise to 90/70, a grade crossing, a track from facilities on the north side, a bridge over a road, five road bridges overhead, extra track on the north side, two road bridges overhead, crossovers at Cork (MP 68.1), where speed limits are 70-40/30, the Columbia Secondary Track trails in from the west, a former PRR branch headed southeast, and a former Reading Branch from the northwest, and a road bridge overhead at the west end of the passenger station at Lancaster (MP 68.0), with its two island platforms connected by a footbridge and depot on the south side of the line, a road bridge overhead at the east end of the station, and a bridge over a street below. This part of the line passes through the "Pennsylvania Dutch" farming country around Lancaster.

East of Lancaster, there is a bridge over a street below, a line leaves to the northeast, there is a bridge over a street below, and the outer two (tracks 1 and 4) of the former four tracks remain, with speed limits 70-40, past a bridge over a road on the west bank of a river that is also bridged, New Holland Junction, where a PRR branch once trailed in from the southwest and one still leaves to the northeast, a bridge over a road below, MP 63, where speed limits become 90-50, except on a few curves with 75-50, three road bridges overhead, a westbound detector at MP 61.4, Intermediate Signals, a bridge over a river, Bird in Hand, Gordonville, where the line turns southeast, a bridge over a road below, a grade crossing, a road bridge overhead, a spur on the north side at Paradise, the Strasburg Railroad connection on the south side at Leaman Place (MP 57.0), where the line turns east and the passenger speed limit on track 1 (south track) drops to 70 mph to MP 54 and 80 mph to MP 50, a bridge over a street, a spur trailing in on the north side, a road bridge overhead, Intermediate Signals, a road alongside to the north, a bridge over a road, a road bridge overhead, Pennsylvania Dutch farmland, a bridge over a road below, Intermediate Signals and a derelict old depot to the north at Krizers, a road bridge overhead, a turn south-southeast with speed 50/55-40, Gap (MP 51.2), MP 50, where both tracks have 90 mph passenger speeds again, eastbound detectors (both kinds) at MP 48.2, an old depot on the north side at Christiana,  a bridge over a street, a turn east-northeast near Atglen, where the PRR Low Grade Line once came alongside to the south, a spur trailing in on the north side, three bridges over streets, and the passenger station with two side platforms at Parkesburg (MP 44.2), the west end of SEPTA service.
