From Yemassee (MP 443.0), where there is a passenger station and a line from Port Royal trails in from the south-southeast. the double track, CTC, line heads south-southwest, with overall speed limit 79 mph for passenger trains, 70 mph for intermodal trains, and 60 mph for freights, with a local restriction of 55/45 on the east track, past MP 445.0, where a local restriction of 70 mph on the east track resumes, Kress, MP 446.6, where single track starts, Coosawhatchie, Bashan, MP 455.6, where double track resumes, with a passenger speed limit of 70 mph on the west track, Ridgeland (MP 459.3), MP 460.6, where single track starts again and full line speeds resume, Okatee, MP 470.0, where double track resumes, with a passenger speed limit of 70 mph on the east track, detectors at MP 473.8, Hardeeville (MP 473.9), where the line turns southwest a Southern line once trailed in from the north and the Hutchinson Island Spur heads away on the east side, MP 477.8, where single track starts again and full line speeds resume, and MP 478.2, where the speed limit drops to 30 mph,

Crossing the Savannah River from South Carolina into Georgia on a drawbridge at MP 479.3, the line passes MP 480.1, where full line speeds resume, a detector at MP 480.5, Chatham (MP 480.8), where double track resumes, and O-Leary, turning south past Monteith, and turning just east of due south past detectors at MP 484.9, a bridge carrying an NS line to the docks overhead, MP 489.6, where Yard Limits start and a branch from the Savannah State Docks trails in on the east side, and Central Junction (MP 490.4), where the former SAL and former ACL lines join, with the westernmost fork (SAL) trailing in from due north, from Columbia, and the easternmost (ACL) trailing in from the northeast, from Charleston, and an NS line crosses on the flat, just north of North Tower and the Savannah Amtrak station (MP 490.9 on the former ACL route) at Telfair Junction, where parallel routes through Savannah (one ex-SAL, on the west side, and one ex0ACL on the east side) separate, and an SAL line once curved away on the east side.
