Centralia to North Weldon

At Centralia (MP 10.7 on the former ACL), the post-SCL connection from the former SAL "East Line" from Bellwood trails in on the east side of the former ACL "A Line", which continues south, double-track, CTC, with overall speed limits 79 mph for passenger trains, 70 mph for intermodal trains, and 60 mph for all other trains, past a grade crossing. The line curves south-southeast at the location where the SAL once bridged overhead (with bridge abutments still visible), with passenger speeds reduced to 70 mph from MP 14.1 to MP 19.1, past Intermediate Signals at Chester, where the 3 ft. gauge Tidewater & Western once crossed at grade, curves southeast past a road bridge overhead, two grade crossings, and an embankment.

The line turns south-southeast again past signals and crossovers at Walthall, south at Highway, southwest at Dunlap, where an ACL line into Petersburg once continued south, past a bridge over an acute angle road, a road bridge overhead, an angled grade crossing, Intermediate Signals and detectors at MP 17.4, a grade crossing, a bridge over a stream, a road bridge overhead, a bridge over a wide angled road, Colonial Heights, where the north-south SAL once made a flat crossing, two grade crossings, and a bridge over drainage to the Amtrak "Ettrick" station at Petersburg (MP 22.0), which has a platform with an umbrella shed and a brick depot on the east side only, and the closed River Road grade crossing to its south, with all speeds limited to 60 mph from MP 19.1 to MP 22.6, continuing to MP 23.1 on the east track with a 40 mph speed limit on the west track between MP 22.6 and MP 23.1.

There is an old depot on the east side, a road bridge overhead, a dirt track grade crossing, and MP 23, before the line turns south at Appomattox (named for the river, not the town with the famous courthouse), with a line heading away on the west side, and is single track, with speed limit 60 mph, from MP 23.1 to MP 23.3, across the bridge over the Appomattox River and the Norfolk Southern (ex-N&W) main line on the south side of that river, resuming double track, with speed limit still 60 mph to MP 25.4, past a former crossing with the erstwhile SAL shortly thereafter, a dirt track grade crossing at MP 24.5, an angled dirt track grade crossing, and a road bridge overhead, and heading just east of due south to  Intermediate Signals at BX, where the ex-ACL line through Petersburg once trailed in on the east side, turning just west of south to a bridge across another single track Norfolk Southern (ex-N&W) main line, with a two track connector from that line trailing in on the west side at North Collier, where there is a road alongside to the west and a road bridge overhead.

The line turns south past the twelve-track wide yard on the west side of the line at the signals at Collier (MP 27.1) and a road bridge overhead, to the end of that yard at South Collier (MP 28.9), where an SCL-era connector to the erstwhile ex-SAL line just further west once turned away west.
