Taylor to Opal Junction (Temple)

At Taylor, there is a flat crossing with a former MP line at UP Crossing (MP 919.1), with connector in the northwest and southwest quadrants. Here, the Amtrak Texas Eagle changes from the former MP to the former MKT to head north, past the Taylor passenger station (MP 918.9.), depot on the west side (of the northwest quadrant connector), and a dirt road grade crossing, where the speed limit on this TWC, ABS, single track line rises from 40 mph to 70-60. There is a grade crossing north of the connector, the 8,962 ft. east side siding at Birge (MP 918.4), a grade crossing and a grade crossing with Lake Drive within the siding, two grade crossings, grain silos on the west side at Circleville, a dirt road grade crossing, a through truss bridge over a stream, a grade crossing, a road alongside to the east, a detector (box on the east side) at MP 911.4, a grade crossing, a bridge over a highway, then that highway alongside to the east, and the 7,371 ft. siding at Granger (MP 908.1), where the speed limit is briefly 60 mph and the Georgetown Railroad trails in from the west, with signals at MP 907.3.

There are three grade crossings in town, a bridge over a road, a closed dirt road grade crossing, two dirt road grade crossings, a bridge over a stream, a dirt track grade crossing, a bridge over a stream, a grade crossing, a bridge over a stream, Intermediate Signals at MP 904.7, a grade crossing, a bridge over a stream, a dirt track grade crossing, grain silos on the east side, larger grain silos on the east side, a grade crossing, extra track on the east side at Bartlett (MP 902.8), where the speed limit is back to 70-60 and a line from Florence once trailed in from the west, signals at MP 902.5, two grade crossings, a dirt road grade crossing, Intermediate Signals at MP 899.9, a grade crossing at Lindemann Road, a through truss bridge over a stream, grain silos on the east side, a grade crossing, and extra track trailing in on the east side at Holland (MP 896.8), where the line turns northeast, past a cemetery on the east side, a dirt track grade crossing, a bridge over a stream and a dirt track grade crossing, and then north-northeast, past a highway alongside to the east, a grade crossing, a dirt road grade crossing, a bridge over a stream below, a grade crossing at Campbell Road,  a detector (box on the west side) at MP 892.2 a grade crossing, and two dirt track grade crossings.

The line turns north-northwest, past a through truss bridge over a river on the turn, a bridge over a stream, three grade crossings, and then north-northeast again past the 8,093 ft. west side siding at Little River (MP 887.6), where the speed limit is 60-50 and there is a dirt track grade crossing within the siding, a grade crossing (FM xxx), signals at MP 883.8, Smith (MP 883.1), where a Georgetown Railroad branch heads west to Belton, a grade crossing, a dirt track grade crossing, a bridge over a divided highway, Intermediate Signals at Cobel (MP 881.1), where the speed limit is 40 mph, a grade crossing, a grade crossing with Martin Luther King Jr., a dirt road grade crossing into Cresswoods plant, and Opal Junction (MP 880.8), where the speed limit is 25 mph across the flat crossing with the BNSF (former Gulf, Colorado, & Santa Fe) line, and there is a connector in the northwest quadrant used by the Amtrak Texas Eagle to head for Fort Worth.
