Reunion
Do you remember that day?
You stood, looking at yourself in
the mirror,
Wondering who this person could
be,
Uncertain that you were intimate
friends.
The self-important blur of your
life
Kept you from sitting down with
this stranger,
Having tea and joining together
in conversation,
Getting to know each other.
You have much to talk about, this
stranger and you,
The grief of abandonment,
Paths ignored because they didn’t
make you look good,
Paths ignored because they weren’t
easy or popular.
It is time to ask yourself forgiveness.
Time to invite yourself home.
Time to sit down together, give
thanks,
Laugh, cry and embrace each other.
This is the time to offer each other
bread and wine,
Coming together in communion,
Accepting your new old self,
Celebrating your reunion.
This is the time of miracles.
