"My Mother and My Father"

My Mother and My Father”

They watched over us, their children, in all tenderness and fidelity, and followed us out into the world with yearnings altogether beyond the power of written or spoken words.  And this shall cheer and comfort us evermore.  They were never “rich” in mere things, in worldly “goods.”  And yet, in love, in lofty ideals, in self-respect, in deeds of kind and helpful service they stored up treasures that shall not quickly perish, yes, treasures which may endure forever.  Their lives disclosed a veritable wealth of God-given, Christ ruled personality,-----strength and patience and faithfulness to be accounted for and appraised only in terms of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, “the Author and Perfector of our faith.”
