CLASS POLICIES AND PROCEDURES -- DOLPHIN DIVE CENTER

Deposits and fees

A non-refundable deposit of $25 is required to hold your space in any class. The remainder of the course fee must be paid in full at the time of the first class. If you prefer to make full payment in advance and then decide to withdraw before your course begins, you will receive a full refund, less the $25 deposit.

After the first classroom session, but prior to any additional classroom, pool or ocean sessions, a student who withdraws will receive a refund of 50 percent of the course fee.

No refunds are available once the second classroom session, or any pool/ocean session, has begun. As an option, we will happily reschedule you for any future course that begins within six months, at no additional charge.

Equipment and materials

For the duration of the course, Dolphin Dive Center will provide each student, at no charge, with an air tank, BC vest, regulator, wetsuit, hood, weight belt and weights. These items may be checked out one day prior to any pool or ocean session, and must be returned within one business day thereafter, thoroughly rinsed and dry or nearly so.

Each student will provide a mask, snorkel, fins, boots and gloves, and the required PADI course materials, in either book or CD-rom form. All students receive a 10 percent discount on non-sale purchases at Dolphin Dive Center while they are actively enrolled in any course.

Pool and ocean dives

Because everyone’s schedule is different, every effort will be made during the first class to arrange pool and ocean sessions at times that are mutually convenient. Bring your calendars and talk it over with the class. If no consensus can be arranged that benefits everyone, we’ll simply stick with the posted schedule for the class you’re in.

The fee for your course includes dives with your instructor from the best beach sites in the area, usually near Laguna Beach. As an option, your class may unanimously choose to dive from diveboats or from Catalina Island for some or all of the required dives. This will result in additional fees to cover boat transportation, which your instructor will discuss with you during the first class. In some instances, it MAY be possible to break a class into two groups, with some students diving from the beach, and others in the class opting for boats, and paying the additional boat expense. No student will be required to dive from a boat, at additional expense, unless he or she so chooses.
